It was one of the hottest wedding days I have ever experienced and thankfully I started hydrating the night before because hooo doggy, this was a roasty one!
You may remember Becky + Torin from their engagement session at a place up in the NH White Mountains that I found for them which sites in an area they consider their home away from home – well, their wedding day featured another majestic natural feature: the tall tree grove of Cunningham Farm in New Gloucester Maine.
I haven’t worked at Cunningham Farm before but I’ve seen the pictures of the tall skinny trees all lined up perfectly and I was excited to get them out there into them. While I wasn’t able to convince the couple to get in the little pond’s rowboat, we did make great use of the path separating the rows of trees and with the sun dipping down juuuust right at that time we had some wonderful warm sunlight poking through the leaves while we got a little break from the heat under their shade.
The guests and the couple remained tough through the outdoor ceremony on the beautiful property and then when it came time to celebrate them as they returned back up the aisle after their I do’s they started the party off with a resounding celebration for the newlyweds which they also used to welcome them into the reception a little while later.
And I have to say that Becky’s dad gave one of THE BEST father of the bride speeches that made Becky shout multiple times, “Dad!!! What the hell?!” and Torin just covered his eyes and laughed while I basically screamed with laughter along with the guests! I won’t go into what he said to save Becky from having it live on in immortality on this blog but suffice it to say that he very accurately recalled the first time he saw her in his life and as a doctor, he didn’t leave many stones unturned in the descriptors of how she came into the world! I photographed the hell out of their reactions while her father just laughed and continued on without hesitation.
That along with his tearful reaction upon seeing her for the first time on her wedding day were probably the highlights for me! Whatta guy!
It was so wonderful to see these two again on their wedding day and spend it with one of my favorite officiants, Erika Hewitt and the incredible team at Black Tie Co. I hope you two have fun memories from the celebration that last you a lifetime – here’s to Becky + Torin!
