WPJA Award Winning Pair of Images! Boothbay Harbor Wedding

Holy crap, two of my images from Christina + Jeremy’s Boothbay Harbor Linekin Bay Resort wedding won blue ribbon Masterpiece awards in the WPJA 2018 v008 Photography Competition! This makes three awards so far from the WPJA – which started with Paula + Marc’s photo!

The judges for this round were full of Pulitzer Prize nominees and award winners, photo editors for top news magazines like Newsweek and Time, Associated Press photographers and artists who worked for the White House News Photographers Association – and they chose the below two images as top photos this round, how awesome!!

While I always love my epic images with couples in front of beautiful backdrops, especially since I live in such a beautiful location with a ton of stunning locations to work with, but I have such a huge spot in my heart for images that capture those emotions and real moments in each wedding that have that photojournalist edge to them.

These images are sometimes harder to find and capture, they require patience, the ability to gain the trust of the people in front of my camera so they allow me into those intimate moments, and the trust in myself that the quiet moments are the best to chase and seek out. It requires me to keep the camera up to my face at all times no matter what, and never letting the moments pass by even when the time is crunched or there is a world of family and friends buzzing behind me.

It’s moments like these that pull at the heart, they take you right to those emotions of the day, and they tell the story in thousands of words that you can’t hear otherwise. These are the people the couple has gathered in close to remember their day with and they are the people that hold very warm spots in their hearts so capturing their hearts and the feelings from the day are so very important to me and I’m so happy that two of these images have been awarded by this wonderful group full of International photographers at the top of their game.
