Abby is one of those people that is just cool. She doesn’t have to try to be cool and she doesn’t concern herself with being cool…she just is. And one of the really awesome things about her is that she and her family run The Critter Barn in Berwick, Maine; and just as the name would suggest, there are TONS of critters including horses, miniature horses, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, ducks, dogs, cats and goats all living happily amongst one another here. As an animal lover myself, not too many things make me happier than to see bunch of the little guys being loved and cared for like these are!
I was so excited to go take pictures of Abby as she got her horse “Show Me” all saddled up and rode around their pastures. Show Me is one absolutely gorgeous horse and Abby is also one of those girls that looks beautiful without even trying so they were easy subjects for sure! And even though the sun was bright bright bright (as a photographer, super bright light isn’t ideal) we didn’t let that stop us from getting some great shots.
Just as we were wrapping up photos, Abby asked me, “Do you want to get on?”. For those that know me well, you know I’ve daydreamed about having a horse from juuuust about the day I was born, so my reply was an instant, “YES PLEASE!!!”. I think it was impossible for my face to stop smiling, seriously.

Oh sweet tuggins… these photos are just splendid!! You have a good eye for what will make a well framed shot. The use of both b/w and color is great… I am very proud of the work you do… your eye and what you see that tells you that you have a great shot is super. I am so very proud of you. I was just looking at these pictures again (still wonderful) and I had a thought. Sarah, you do realize that those spider webs on the horseshoes came from spiders, don’t you? Spiders!! Just a thought :)
