Veasey Memorial Park Groveland, MA Wedding Photographer // Nancy + Dana

Remember Nancy + Dana from the engagement shoot earlier this year who knocked it out of the park with their loveliness? Well, these two had a wedding that I won’t forget for a long time. I was excited to see these two all dressed to the nines on their wedding day and then as the date drew nearer, the weather forecast looked grimmer with each day that passed. It was one of those “this will be the storm of all summer storms evaaaar!” sort of deals where the wind was to be incredible, the lightning to be loud, and the rain OH THE RAIN that was being predicted. I was bummed because I love these two people and although I knew it would be a great day no matter what, I was concerned about how THEY would feel. So I sent Nancy an email and gave her some rain tips just in case and then reminded her that it rained on my wedding day too and all was going to be ok!

The response I got back from Nancy? “Thank you for all the pointers! I’m going to pick up some rain boots now. We are keeping our fingers crossed for no rain but who knows! Dana and I are sooo excited!” And that, my friends is why I love them.

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING got them down the day of. They are so incredibly in love and so excited to get married that their faces never once showed signs of worry, nervous-ness, or sadness – instead they both had the attitude of “so what?! We’re still getting married WOO HOO!!” This meant that their day was perfect. Truly! All that mattered was they are getting married to one another and were going to have a great time doing it, end of story!

The rain was due to start at 1pm which was the time when we were going to begin getting ready to start the first look and continue through the night. What really happened? The rain held out for the first look, formal photos, ceremony and a few photos afterwards and then the skies opened up and lightning lit up the tent as they ran in from the rain to do their first dance. But as you’ll see, they reveled in it. They laughed, danced, and made sure to go out in the rain for pictures under a rainbow. A rainbow!

I could go on and on about these people and how much I adored their wedding party (seriously, SUCH nice people who made me laugh all night long…you’ll see) and how warm and kind their parents were, but I think that’s enough talking from me. Let’s get to those pictures! Love you two and love the celebration you had!

The bridal party found this spider at the park (I believe that’s what they said) and was a remote controlled DEVIL. Dana used it to scare Nancy’s mom at one point and then right after the below picture was taken I went to move it so it wouldn’t get stepped on and her bridesmaid KNEW it was creeping me out so she made it walk just as I was close to touching it. Apparently my face was all sorts of awesome when that happened hahaha!

Married! After the ceremony they wanted to do some fun pictures with their bridal party. We started with a picture of just the two of them and then PHOTOBOMB!!

The guys re-enacting the girls’ pose – hand holding and all!

We went inside real quick juuuust as the rain was starting to make picture awesome-ness happen. They were more than happy to let me take a few minutes and I’m so happy they humored me!


Just as they were getting announced the skies started to pour huge rain drops, this is them being announced as husband and wife and not caring one bit about that rain!

RAINBOW! It was still raining at this point and look at them! I was laying on the ground with Oscar holding an umbrella over me and more photo magic happened.

More photobombing. I was laughed as we set up this shot and and she jumped in….

So I told them to rotate a little to have their backs against a table so we could get another shot and then she did the below. I WAS DYING LAUGHING!!

Nancy’s sister accidentally popped the lil girl in the face while dancing and Oscar juuust happened to catch it. When I was over by them later on in the night she said “do you want me to hit her again?” ohhhhhh the hilarity! (I promise no kids were hurt in the making of this wedding)
