If I were to play the game “never have I ever” one of the first things I would do is say “never have I ever photographed a wedding that was 100% on time all day long” – that is until Rachel + Bret’s Seacoast Science Center wedding. But get this, their day was not only on time from literal start to finish, they were also the most relaxed couple I have worked with from start to finish – that my friends is awesome!
When we met for their engagement session that calm I’d become so used to on the day of their wedding was already playing out before me. They are such wonderful people that compliment each other beautifully who wanted nothing more than to drench themselves in the excitement of it all.
Oscar and I showed up to the guy’s rental house in Maine on the morning of the wedding and were greeted by guys who were not only enjoying their time together, they were also all set and ready for pictures from moment we arrived – say what?! All of them are equally kind people and a ton of fun to be around; I instantly was in my groove and felt right at home photographing their excitement.
And then it was time to head to Rachel who is a gorgeous love of a woman!
We were welcomed with a warm hug from the beautiful bride who wasn’t rushing around worrying about last minute details, instead she was dancing around with her flower girl and telling me how she was ready to get the show on the road! My heart melted on the spot.
And just like it was with the guys, the girls she chose to stand beside her were supportive and happy to be celebrating with the couple. I couldn’t stop marveling at how incredible everyone at this wedding was.
When Rachel stepped into her dress I was looking forward to the soft tulle at the bottom being my friend in the cool ocean breeze and I kept calling her my Barbie because I just wanted to spin her around and show her off to the world. Her soft light blond hair, her sweet beautiful smile, and her quiet careful demeanor were even more enhanced on this day.
After a beautiful ceremony by the water, we ran off for photos along the ocean and then as the sun began to set over the trees, I got the chance to snag them one last time for some colorful sky images by the water. While the four of us laughed with one another to the sounds of the ocean at our feet, the newlyweds got that one last bit of time to spend together before the party on the dance floor was in full swing.
And I must add that Nicole from Nicole Mower Events was a major asset to their day. She supported the two of them and made sure everything ran smoothly. She kept constant contact with us, made sure everyone stayed hydrated, and was an all-around dream to work with. I can’t recommend her enough to couples looking for an excellent coordinator.
Additionally, I always love working at the Seacoast Science Center. Their support to the science community along with the ideal location that allows couples an abundance of choices in photography options is a favorite of mine.
To Rachel, Bret and your incredible families: thank you so much for letting me photograph your day. I am in awe of the people you are and I know we will be seeing each other soon; I wish you all the best!
Rachel, you are like a dream! So beautiful!
Bret’s grandfather was their officiant and at this exact moment in the ceremony he was presenting his wedding band to Bret which is the ring he will wear to honor his love to Rachel. Such a great piece of history that will mean the world to the couple.
