Portland Maine Wedding Photographer : Brean + Joe

Being a photographer whose heart is always on her sleeve it’s not uncommon for me to fall for the people I photograph. I fall for their story, how they light up when they see each other, and the way they’re beautiful when independent but create a certain magic when they’re by each other’s side. When there’s an infectious love, I find them immensely alluring – and needless to say, I fell hard for Brean + Joe.

And if I’m being honest, Kanye West helped a little too.

Joe, like me, is a die hard fan of his. He’s seen him in concert twice (even dragging Brean who is a diehard Taylor Swift fan!) and when I walked in the door to his suite, Kanye’s “The Life of Pablo” was playing. YES. Best getting ready music ever! We talked about our joint love for this controversial music genius and all was right in the world. Joe, I get you.

But it wasn’t just that, these two won my heart over and over again all day. They are so in love and so wrapped up in that feeling, that their wedding day had a joy that ran through every aspect of their celebration – they are the type of people that make this job the best one in the world.

And Brean. Magical Brean! She’s one of the nicest people ever ever ever. I almost couldn’t believe how kind she is. And no matter what happened, nothing was going to faze her. The day was full of her laughter, her smiles, her hugs, her dancing, and my most favorite of all, it was full of that cute wrinkle of her nose anytime Joe leaned in to kiss her throughout the night. She’s as smart as whip, kind right down to the core, and absolutely gorgeous.

We traveled from her parent’s house in Cape Elizabeth, Maine to Fort Williams Park for a first look (which the groomsmen, Oscar + I managed to not have anyone interfere with their first look along the path to the lighthouse on a packed Labor Day weekend nonetheless) and then finally over to The Portland Company for a ceremony and reception under draped bistro lights. The day was impeccable and the industrial warmth of The Portland Company was a wonderful backdrop to a couple who fell in love while living in New York City.

There were so many moments of amazing all throughout their day and their families wanted nothing more than to bask in this day alongside them. People, location, food (Bread & Butter Catering does food so deliciously right), mood, dress….Kanye. It was perfect. So perfect that I wish I could go back and do it all over again.

And I do need to send a very special thank you to Kelly and the team at Bread & Butter Catering Company who made the day extra special and were so great to work with. I highly recommend them for catering and wedding coordinating!

Brean + Joe, you two are the real deal and I love you for it. Thank you for sharing this day with me, I wish you tons of love and tons of good music :)
