Just a quick time jump ago, I photographed Ellie + Ben on her parent’s farm for their engagement shoot (check it out here if you’d like!) and since I not only knew these same people would be gathered back around together again in just a couple of months but also this beautiful property overlooking Mount Monadnock was going to be the backdrop for the day, I was excited to finally get the show on the road! We’d talked on the phone, exchanged lots of emails, and then Ellie’s mom Nina made me feel at home during the engagement session, so when the day arrived, I was comfortable meandering around the property and home photographing their Mount Monadanock wedding!
The girls bustled around the beautifully restored farmhouse downstairs (I would live here in a heartbeat and have already told Nina she is MORE than welcome to come help me design and decorate my home) and the guys tucked away upstairs and we were off to a wonderful day. I also can’t forget my buddy, Hank the family dog, who was around being the cool guy he always is!
It was a cold day for early September (October and September have seemed to have flopped their normal weather around this year) but with a bright shining sun and lots of love and excitement, it was refreshing to spend the day near the mountains with a chill to the air.
And the love that I mentioned, man, it’s so apparent just how important these two people are to their family + friends. Ellie’s sister Georgia withheld tears (and didn’t withhold them) all throughout the day and spoke of just how much her sister means to her – you can tell these two have a wonderful place in each other’s hearts. And Ben’s best man told the most wonderful stories from college where they became close friends and not only is Ben an incredible friend – he’s ridiculously smart.
As in, his professors excused him from exams because he knew all of the material front and back and could practically teach some of the classes. Yup, that’s one smart human. And even more showing of his smarts? Marrying Ellie. She’s just as smart and driven along with being one hell of an amazing woman who is organized and alongside her mom, made this entire day come together beautifully.
Everyone they hired to be a part of the celebration was incredible and so great to work alongside – I’d do this day over and over again and they are a big part of that too! Food was delicious from a local farm, decorating was beautiful, the band packed the dance floor from the first song to the last – everyone was so professional and caring which made me love them all the more because it helped make these well deserving people have the time of their lives. From locally sourced food, flowers, and decorations, I loved the sustainable and earth loving touches all throughout the day.
I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to be a part of this wedding day and how much love and respect I have for Ellie, Ben, and their families. Thank you for bringing me along for the ride, I wish you tons of happy years together!
A first look with Mount Monadanock as the backdrop – can’t get more dreamy than that.
The cake on the left intrigued me so much! I looked like a stack of pancakes with some sort of amazing filling in between each layer – I’m sure it was crepes but I’d never seen a cake like it before! It was a family recipe and then decorated with a stencil of the farm
