Next year one of the (awesome, funny, loving, cool) couples I get to photograph is Liz + Ryen! They came to me from seeing Liz’s high school friend, Brean, whose wedding I photographed last year and if Brean’s wedding is any indication on how awesome Liz’s day will be, it’s going to be THE BEST!
Before Liz, Ryen, and I met up, she asked if it would be ok to go up into the lighthouse across the street from the home she grew up in since she used to adventure around in it when she was little and thought it would be fun to capture her and Ryen up there too. I’m a weeee bit afraid of heights, but also almost always up for an adventure so I said “let’s do it!” and planned to arrive and then we’d hike over to the lighthouse.
See, I thought that there was no way this lighthouse was DIRECTLY across the street from her house – but I was wrong. No hikes needed today.
As in, you open her front door and across the tiniest of streets (two cars would have to go to the edges to pass one another) and there sits a beautiful lighthouse attached to her neighbor’s home! Incredible!! So after hanging out with her family’s cute cat, we were off.
The views from up there were amazing with Portland off in the distance as well as the wide open ocean and the white mountains to the other sides – no doubt I would have spent a lot of time up there as a kid too.
Funny thing is, Ryen is also not a huge fan of heights so he and I did a lot of wall hugging around the little walkway – but just as Liz promised, it was a sturdy building and after crawling through the wee tiny door to the outer walkway, I was so glad I’d said yes to this view.
Afterwards we took a short couple minute drive over to Kettle Cove (a favorite of mine where you get views of the sunset over the water which isn’t always easy on this coast) where they got all lovey dovey with one another and did some dancing in the woods along with some moves on the beach.
I had such a great time with Liz + Ryen and I can’t wait for their Spruce Point Inn wedding up in Boothbay Harbor next May! Woo!
