Weddings always have a certain something in the air that just make them feel so much more than your average day; there’s an air of excitement, anticipation and a strong sense of love so thick in the air that you can almost see it. And like those weddings, Geri + Jon’s day had all of that…but it also a little something extra too. My comment to Oscar (who was my awesome second shooter) on our drive home from the mountains was that there was magic in their whole day. It was in their easy relaxation the moment we arrived, in how they made the day’s events meaningful to them and didn’t just follow along with what you are “supposed” to do on your wedding day, in the way they simply let go and enjoyed every second in every hour, but mostly it was in the magnetism created whenever the two of them are together. The magnetism was so apparent to everyone around them and both families have such an admiration for the person their loved one had chosen to spend forever with. It was clear that no matter which way you looked at it, this day was an undeniable confirmation that these two were just meant to be together.
And the day was so very them! From bucking tradition and having a first look before the ceremony which allowed plenty of time to take a BUNCH of photos of just them together before the wedding went full steam ahead, all the way to her sweet Kangaroo sneakers she wore at the reception AND at the ceremony because in the handy zipper pocket she wanted to tuck away her vows. It was what they wanted in every way and it was absolutely perfect.
Their day took place at the gorgeous Whitney’s Inn way up in the mountains of Jackson, NH where every way you turned it was spectacular views. And Geri, being the multi-talented DIY girl that she is, made just about every decoration you see in the following pictures – including the lobster bibs every guest had at their table! And to cap off what was a ceremony filled with such great love, there was a TON of partying on the dance floor; in fact I think it was the most fun I have seen guests have at a wedding! And their choice in DJ’s was amazing, Peak DJ have a hands off approach to DJ’ing that means tons of great dance music and none of the fluff of games and announcements – it was a straight up party as soon as the music started.
Congratulations, Geri + Jon, you had such a great wedding and I know you two will have so many wonderful stories to share from your day. Please keep in touch and let me know where your travels take you in the future!
