Fort Williams Park Engagement Shoot : Amy + Josh

Amy + Josh are getting hitched at Shady Lane Farm next year and wanted some coastal Maine pictures for their engagement shoot so off to Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth we went! We had great warm weather, pretty fall colors, and an abundance of lovey energy between them to make for one awesome evening by the water.

We bonded over our love of Maine and our funny stories we have about the south (Amy, like me, used to live in Tennessee) and I got to hear more about their wedding day plans and how she knew Shady Lane was the place for them because it reminded her of her dad’s property back home. The two of them are so easy going and quick to laugh so it was easy to have a lot of fun together!

I must say that a little of my crazy came out and it was only the first time I met them in person so I’m thankful they laughed right along with me! But what can you expect from a girl who has an irrational fear of sharks who suddenly sees a monster coming out of the ocean mere feet from her?

Ok, so maybe that’s an exaggeration but you try having a camera up to your face while at the water’s edge and then your subjects start commenting about something happening out in the water and when you bring the camera down, try not to get a little A LOT scared to see that it’s a man in full wet suit/oxygen tank/flippers/monster lumbering out of the ocean right in front of you! I mean, c’mon, it’s not that often that this sort of thing happens right in front of your face so I get a pass, right? And Amy was so gracious to tap me on the arm and say, “just so you know, it’s happening again” when the SECOND guy came traipsing out of the water. Seriously, it was bizarre! I love that she warned me and then that both of them laughed alongside me at the absurdity of my craziness!

We had fun walking along the rocky cliffs of the park, hanging by the water, and of course getting a few images with the classic lighthouse in the background. I’m pumped to photograph their Maine wedding next year and to be a part of the fun that will be had. And guys, I promise I’m not that crazy every day…ok, maybe just a little :)
