Kitz Farm Wedding Photographer Wins Award for Jess + Jared’s Wedding

An award-winning image from Jess + Jared’s Kitz Farm wedding in Strafford, New Hampshire! This was the first time I worked at Kitz Farm (hoping I get to go back a few times in the future!) and Jess + Jared initiated me right on into the venue with their wild family, beer shotgunning wedding party (which, for the record, was the ladies) and their chicken fighting on the dance floor.

But what took me by complete surprise was when the newlyweds entered into the barn reception and Jared did a FLIP right on the ground as his grand entrance!

Yes, it was on purpose and yes if I remember correctly, there were a few more dance floor flips as the night went on. This was a wild bunch for sure.

I occasionally will have couples that forewarn me that their crew is going to be wildin’ out once the sun goes down and the shoes come off and this was a perfect example of the couple being completely spot on about their party. From pinata smashes to some sweet burns during the toasts, they were ready to have fun at every moment.

So again, this was another example of having the camera up to my face as often as possible and being ready to cash in the photo ticket whenever something magic appears. I had no clue they were going to do this (and I honestly don’t even know if Jess knew this was going to happen!) so there was no chance I could have guessed this was going to happen, I just know to always always ALWAYS be ready for whatever.

Thankfully for this insane moment, I was!

Another thing I always stress to my couples when we talk is that I am not going to be imparting on their day what I think happens on a wedding day and letting that influence me. I’m more interested in looking for their unique stories, their unique emotions and their unique way of showing love to guide me.

I don’t have the same 10 photos I set up on a wedding day that I photograph at every wedding and I don’t always work at the same few venues doing the same photos over and over…I live in the diversity and the what makes us and life all so very different from one another.

I’ve always been able to be that chameleon and could fit in in a wide variety of situations and be able to tune into the atmosphere each group makes and that combined with my empath ways, I am able to really tune into each day and photograph it genuinely as it plays out in front of me.

I won’t tell you how to be on your wedding day or make you do something uncomfortable or something that just isn’t you, YOU and YOUR STORY is far more interesting than what I could create inside my head and honestly, that’s all that I want to let guide me on your wedding day.

If you look through my gallery, you’ll see that the moments and the uniqueness of the days and the people shine through. I don’t have a lot of the same poses or a lot of images of the static decorations of the day, I have photos of the perfectly imperfect YOU and the perfectly imperfect days you celebrate together.

So if you’re wild and wooly like Jess + Jared, or if you’re quietly loving and reserved, I’ll take photos that capture that so your story can live on forever and ever.
