It was supposed to be hurricane weather all up the coast of New England with Maine being hit with wild winds and heavy downpours as well as unseasonably cold weather for the first week of September.
But Megan and Michael weren’t letting that worry them.
They held fast to the plan of having their Maine wedding on a large dock out in Mooselookmeguntic Lake and hoped that the rain showers would skip their ceremony.
And it did.
And we got lots of those beautiful stormy clouds with peeks of sun as it tried to shine through the inky blue clouds that I love so much. It was a beautifully Maine day with mountains in the background and a glassy lake dotted with moored boats.
Megan quietly got ready and did last-minute touches on her vows with her friends who laughed together while getting their hair done in the sunroom. Her brother Connor nervously rehearsed the words he’d read aloud as the couple’s officiant and let me photograph him as he prepared on the back deck of the home.
She was surrounded in the large lakefront rental home by her parents who helped the couple’s son, CJ, get into his wedding attire (you’ll see lots of that little guy in the pictures – he’s one expressive boy that was so fun to photograph!) and made sure that Megan had everything she needed for the day.
And when she got into her wedding dress?? What a knockout! It fit her perfectly and she was just absolutely stunning.
When it was time for the ceremony to start out on the docks, the guests huddled close in the chilly 63-degree weather and watched as the couple read their vows and Connor perfectly performed the ceremony. CJ watched intently while holding his grandmother’s hand as his parents said “I do” and then during the family formal photos he continued to be the co-star of the show.
After some quick photos of the newly married couple out on the dock before Megan got too cold, we sent them off to cocktail hour before starting the reception off with a bang which lead to some partying on the dance floor that couldn’t have been more fun to photograph!
I’d been eyeing the firepits that kept guests cool when they’d step outside of the tent to be near the water so I was pumped when Megan and Michael agreed to come outside with me real quick to get some last pictures of the night together and I have to say, the result was so cool! It reminds me so much of the last scene in Sixteen Candles with Sam and Jake kissing over the birthday candles – you’ll see that one at the very end of the post!
Megan, Michael + CJ, I wish you two all the best! You two are such loving parents to that wonderful boy and it was great being a part of your Maine wedding day.
