Laura is a kindhearted person whose strength, poise, and grace couples perfectly with her fastidious desire to correct social injustices and stand up for the rights of others. Her husband, Rodrigo, mirrors Laura with his gentle heart, intelligence, and care which makes them an enigmatic lawyer/doctor duo who are definitely going to do so much good for this world.
Their deep respect and love for one another was a pleasure to watch from my front-row seat with their smiling glances when they caught one another’s eye at the ceremony altar to always being in one another’s arms while tearing up the dance floor where they never stopped laughing and squeezing each other tight.
They’re caring with deep empathic roots and they never shy away from letting both family and friends know just how important they are – one of my favorite subtle ways Laura does this is when she’d frequently reach out to hold hands with a loved one and smile warmly while giving their hand a soft squeeze. She did it with her sister before she joined Rodrigo at the wedding altar, on the dance floor where she’d reach out to friends to encourage them to join her, and even with me when she’d want to lead me somewhere and ensure I didn’t get separated from her in the crowd.
But it’s not just the two of them that make you feel special, cared for, and respected – that same treatment comes from their parents and siblings too. Her dad drove me around so I didn’t have to walk or worry about timing and he’d watch over (and even carry!) my heavy camera bag so I could steal away to more easily photograph the couple at Harley Mason Reserve along the ocean. Laura’s mom checked in on me throughout the day making sure I was doing ok had everything I needed – she even special ordered lunch for me! I felt like an honorary member of the family for the day.
So between the families, the enormous dahlias in the beautiful arrangements from York Flower Shop as a nod to Rodrigo’s Mexican heritage, and the incredible team at York Golf and Tennis Club in York Maine (Sam, you are an awesome coordinator – I wish I could work with you every weekend!), the day couldn’t have been more of a joy to be a part of. It was beautifully heartfelt through and through.
Laura and Rodrigo, I’m so lucky you chose me to photograph your day. I can’t say enough wonderful things about you and the people you hold close to your hearts – I just know you two will do incredible things in your lives together. Thank you for all that you did for me, it was awesome to be a part of your inner circle!
