Portland Maine Wedding Photographer : Kate + Marc

First weddings of the season are always a huge rush of excitement around our house and what ramps up the anticipation even more is when I’ve talked quite a bit with the couple leading up to the day (like I LOVE to do!) and there are some amazing treasures in store for the day. Ohhhhh man, this was a fun one!

Kate + Marc are rad – that’s all there is to it. They wanted the wedding to be about their love, their story, and the things that bring them absolute joy and nothing more – and so it was. The two of them love to spend time together in their downtown Portland apartment with their kitties, playing board games or video games to pass the time (“I usually win, no big deal” – Kate), drinking some craft beer and lounging around with one another. Personally, I can’t think of too many things better than that.

Oh, and they love wrestling. WWE is like a staple in their life. A M A Z I N G

They are so sweetly in love with one another and have found the person that not only understands their quirks, but matches those quirks with their very own. And even though I haven’t known them for very long now, I can safely say that I know this love of theirs will stand all tests of time – and from the extreme amounts of positive energy flowing through each part of the day, you can tell that all of those that surround their hearts feel the exact same way.

Kate, that smile melts hearts
Since Port City Festival was going on downtown we didn’t get to go to the Old Port for pictures, but we did score one of them all in front of these beer silos (I have no idea of the correct name, but that sounds right to me!) – it’s the perfect fit for these two beer lovers!

Their wedding was at the concert venue Port City Music Hall and these posters were hung in the windows – soooo cool. And as a girl who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, the Ohio one makes me smile from ear to ear!


Kate told me in passing about this aisle runner and said simply, “It has handwritten text and hopefully it’s long enough to go down most of the aisle.” SHE SO UNDERSOLD THIS PIECE OF ART! Most creative aisle runner I have ever seen.

After the ceremony we ran off to get more pictures like I always do with my couples. Where did these two insanely unique lovebirds decide to go? A bar that is also an arcade called “Arcadia” – obvs!


Remember how I said they love WWE? Well instead of your regular wedding party announcements into the reception, each member of the party dressed up as a famous wrestler to be announced in – spotlights, fog machine, announcer voice and all! And yes, that is The Rock :D


The band “Hello, Newman” played 90’s songs for the crowd and were incredible! I was so impressed and would gladly shoot 100 more weddings with them. (And if you get their reference for their band’s name, you get 100 points in life :D)
