John H. Pierce House Wedding Photographer : Jordan + Don

I have been known to tear up during photographing a wedding (and let’s not even begin to count how many times Oscar has teared up, he’s even more of a softy than me!) and I have certainly found myself enraptured with my couples but geez oh man, have Jordan + Don won over my heart!

I should actually back up and say that I was in love with their relationship from the very first email they sent and I instantly felt that I HAD to photograph their wedding! The are so in love with one another as well with their pets Raleigh and Meep, they’re as tough as nails (both ride cyclocross professionally), yet they’re as sweet as brown sugar, they have endless amounts of style, and they are always looking out for ways to protect the planet – it’s like they are walking, breathing poster children for my favorite type of people! And then I met them in person at their fall engagement session in Newburyport, MA and I fell for them even more. Their infectious laugh, the way he holds her close to him, the smile that beams out of her soul when he leans over to kiss her lightly on the forehead – sigh!! I couldn’t wait for August of 2015 to roll around!

We kept in touch, we talked about the day and their plans (sustainable practices all around with farm fresh foods and flowers to boot!), we laughed about the bumps in planning, we anticipated seeing each other again, and I filled in perfect strangers about how much I was looking forward to photographing their marriage (seriously, I talked to the guy who sells veggie hot dogs about how excited I was – no joke). And then the day finally arrived and when I saw each of them, we squeezed each other tightly and bounced with excitement. They are the sweetest!

And back to those tears and how they fell! Jordan, like me, will cry if she is super happy, if someone does something that touches her heart, or if she is feeling the emotions bubble up in someone else so pretty much every time something exciting happened she started tearing up and then so did everyone else in the room – including me. The true genuine love and excitement these two have about marrying one another is exactly why I photograph weddings. Seeing this sort of joy is unlike anything else and when you feel it from a couple like I did with Jordan + Don, everything is perfect in the world.

The excitement both families have for them and the love that spilled over into every crease and corner of their day was so heartwarming, I’m so very honored I got to be a small part of it all and to now call the two of them my friends.
