It felt like the holidays for sure at the Bedford Village Inn wedding for Cynthia + John! With the venue all lit up in golden yellow lights among the trees and the Overlook Room with its dark wood walls making the red and green decor feel even cozier as the couple said their vows in front of the decorated Christmas trees.
Cynthia + John were wanting an intimate celebration with just their close family and a couple friends and they loved the low key idea of being married in front of a fireplace with his daughter by their side just as the world was gearing up for the December holidays.
They wanted a day defined by what they love so from the music, to her vintage faux fur stole and his Celtic roots showing in the kilt he and his friends wore and the plaid sashes around the women, all the way to him changing into a SEQUIN coat for the dinner afterward, it was stunning. They wanted to enjoy one another, revel in the levity and comfort their relationship brings one another, cozy in and eat some delicious food with family, and end 2018 with wedding bands on their fingers.
And so they did.
Intimate weddings are so much fun to photograph and even though it’s typically a condensed amount of time I get to spend with the couple, I always find myself falling just as much in love with their relationship as I do on longer wedding days.
It’s probably due in part to the slower transitions between all the parts of the day, the fewer interruptions or last-minute decisions the couple has to make which means focusing that much more on each other and the exciting event ahead, and knowing how they will be able to spend time with each and every person attending their wedding allows us to still connect in just a couple of hours and I can get lots of photos that show the uniqueness of their relationship.
And although we didn’t have snow on the ground quite yet, their day did definitely have a chill in the air which only meant the two of them cuddled up even closer as I photographed them under the bistro lights at the Bedford Village Inn.
These two have such a beautiful relationship and with John’s daughter being an integral part of the day – Cynthia made pledges to not only John, but also to his daughter…and then the two of them did their secret handshake to seal the deal during the ceremony! – I couldn’t help but to once again pinch myself for getting the chance to photograph some of the best humans this planet has to offer.
Cynthia + John, I wish you two all the best – you were an amazing couple to end 2018 with and I thank you for having me along on your day!
