I love how friends can make life that much sweeter and that much better. I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to have certain people in my life so I thought I would post about them here and shout it to the world!
For instance my BFF, Makenzie, is so in tune with me that it is almost eerie. She knows exactly what to say when I’m sad and she is so damn funny that I can always count on her to make me laugh whenever we hang out. When I moved from California to New Hampshire, she was literally the first person I met and I remember when I talked to her I thought, “That girl was pretty damn cool”. My first apartment here was about four doors down from the shop she managed and as soon as I was settled in, I marched right over and got hired; my fate was sealed at that point.
Outside of my family and Oscar, I haven’t laughed so much, felt so cared for by a friend, been supported NO MATTER WHAT, given love with no strings attached and confided in someone as much as I have with her. She makes my world spin and if I played for the other team, I would steal her away at the drop of a hat. We both just GET each other. Her family has even become my second family to me and another line of support here in NH. I know I can go there when I need a mother figure to talk to, or a younger sister or brother to hang out with (her two siblings are awesome as well) and I do so with such comfort that it doesn’t even feel the least bit strange to be there with them when Kenz isn’t around.
Yup, I’m pretty lucky.
And along with Kenzie comes my many many other amazing friends. Ones that I’ve grown up with and can pick up with at the drop of the hat, ones that I admire for who they are and the strength that lies so deep at their core (Janeen, I am looking at you), and the ones that have made my life here in NH so wonderful that I can’t imagine it any other way. I have friends who fight the good fight as lawyers at the public defender, those that get a thrill out of venturing out of their comfort zone and consistently trying something new, ones that are beautifully artistic and others that are so in tune with computers and technology that you’d think they were made of gears and chips themselves, some that are musicians, photographers, mothers, fathers….. And I would love to list everyone’s name and say what it is that makes me so enamored with them, but I fear that I would leave someone key off the list on accident. My hope is that those who are close to me, know how much I love them and how much I appreciate the friendship they give me. You guys are all amazing.
So here’s to you all. I thank you for being such an integral part of my life and for providing me with the stuff life is made from; I love you.
