Portsmouth is such an easy, beautiful place to live and because of that, it’s so very photogenic and fun to take pictures of.
I think a lot of my love for this town has to do with spending big chunks of my summers up in a really rustic cabin on Bois Blanc Island, Michigan (tiny island off the tip of lower Michigan) where we silently watched giant cargo ships passing through the straights out the cabin’s living room window. At night we’d be entranced by the lights of the slow moving freighters as they made their way to their destinations, and during the day we’d peer at them through binoculars and pretend they were the pirates to our shipwrecked crew on the beach.
I love how Portsmouth is a working port with massive ships taking up residence late in the night, only to be gone the next morning with the three tugboats carrying them back out to sea. Here’s a couple of pictures I took, and I really should post more since these barely scratch the surface of what you can see when you’re here (have I created a new mission for myself?). If you’ve never visited, it’s time you made the trip…
