BBIF – The funk for fifty years

Last week I posted pictures of Portsmouth, NH and talked about how it reminded me of spending summers up on Bois Blanc Island, Michigan – and then randomly, one of my cousins sent pictures of when we were young including some shots of us all up on BBI and I just haaaad to share! This photo is from one of my favorite summers, which was when my best friend came up with us (who apparently is actually taking this picture since she is only one missing) and all of us kids got into SO much trouble that year. I’m the one acting like a model or something in the Atlanta Braves hat.

I have so many funny memories from bats flying in the cabin at night, my second youngest cousin having freaky deaky sleepwalking sessions that scared the living daylights out of us by *yelling!* at things that weren’t there, the pop up tent we flipped over by having too many of us one side and the same sleepwalker screaming “EEEEEE!!! NOBODY MOVE!!!!!!!!”, being stranded at the docks when our row boat couldn’t get out past the waves during a storm and my cousin Gabe pretending we were going to die and started singing “Kumbaya” to a make believe campfire (we were less than a mile away from the cabins so walking would have been easy, we’re just a dramatic family)…seriously there is so much that happened and those will always be some of my favorite memories as a kid.

My cousin, Ryan, used to come to my house some summers and spend a month or so living with us and he he sent some of the shots he took from those times as well. Here’s one last “remember when” photo that’s proof that I was a skateboarder doing sick ollies all over the place.

I won’t bore the world with more pictures of the days of yore but since I posted something similar last week I thought these might be funny to add this week. My cousins are like brothers and a sister to me and I miss having them a short 1.5 hour drive (on the dot!) away. Every time we get together, it’s always hysterical so I look forward to seeing you all again soon! And thank you, Ryan, for the pictures!
