Heidi + Craig had a Saco Beach Maine elopement just steps from the deep blue sea and Maine brought all the goods for their wedding.
There are people in life that will forever have some sort of wonderful hold on you. They’ve been there when things are exciting, fun, and full of possibility and they’ve been there when your heart aches quietly in your chest and happiness is in a drought. Heidi is one of those people who’ve been there with me for both and everything in between.
She, Oscar, and I have a friendship together that is full of stories I will forever keep close to me. She’s not only a great friend, but she’s also an incredibly intelligent woman who has only grown more and more since the very first time we met. We’ve bonded over music, life experiences, and a shared understanding of what it means to love and to let go, and she’s someone that no matter what and no matter the circumstances, I know will be there for me and I hope she knows the same about my friendship for her.
Over the past couple of years her life has transformed into this incredible burst of energy with opening a hotel in Portland, Maine, to reuniting with a man she was friends with ages ago and falling in love with him, and then having the funniest and cutest little child with this wonderful person – so when she asked if I would be there to photograph their elopement on a quiet Maine beach, I just about lost it with excitement.
I warned her that there’d be tears (she was totally ok with that) and I helped her convince Craig to take a quick drive over to Camp Ellis jetty for a couple of pictures out on the rocks crossing the ocean (he was a pretty even convince), and I told her that no matter what the weather did that day, her wedding was going to be incredible (a stormy Maine sky showed up to cool us down from a week of crazy humidity – and we all loved it).
It was love, it was perfect in its imperfection, and it was a day in this wild life that I will hold onto tightly.
Craig, you’re incredible. From the first second I met you, I was so happy that you were with this person I care for so much. You welcomed me in instantly and you didn’t care that on your wedding day I tearfully squeezed you guys so tight I thought we’d all pop. But most importantly, you love Heidi and you love the son you two have brought into this world. I can’t tell you how happy I am that you two found each other again and I’m so glad I got to be the witness to your oh so Maine beach wedding.
You two make a wonderful team and I’m so looking forward to many years of friendship with you both. I wish lots of love and happiness to you three!
