Nubble Light Elopement on Coastal York Maine for Karen + Jon

You know I love a good elopement and when the people wind up being as incredible as Karen, Jon and their kids – all the better!

Karen and Jon wanted to steal away to one of their favorite places in the world, a place that has lots of memories and feels like home to them: Nubble Light in York Maine. They let their kids (and grandkids) in on the surprise a little before the date so they could arrive prepared, but decided they were going to keep it a secret from everyone else for the time being.

Theirs was a wedding many years in the making and with a big family that gets along so great, I know it’s going to be celebrated amongst the rest of their loved ones as soon as they all know they made it official!

It wound up being a warm summer day with tons of sunshine, bright blue skies and water which made for the perfect Maine backdrop. After photos along Perkin’s Cove in Ogunquit Maine to include the bridge and the docks, Jon’s son drove us all over to the Nubble Light in York to catch up with the rest of the family for a ceremony on the rocks.

Tearful vows were read (which they didn’t realize but they had very similar parts in each of their vows!), laughter surrounded us as the little ones gleefully played near the splashing sea, and it was all sealed with a kiss that took place with their beloved lighthouse watching over them. I’m so happy that even though it was summer, we were able to snag the flat rocks overlooking the view so we could have an unobstructed line of sight to the space they have grown to love as a big family. Although tourists watched from above and clapped in celebration, it was almost as if we had this little slice of perfection all to ourselves – just as the couple had hoped.

Karen + Jon, thank you for a great afternoon with your families – I love how wonderful everyone got along and enjoyed celebrating this incredible occasion right alongside you. I hope you enjoy these photos of your sunny Maine elopement!
