Ogunquit Maine Wedding Photographer : Bonnie + Mark

On a chilly night at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C., Bonnie + Mark eloped and made it officially official that the two of them would be together forever. HOWEVER they only had one photo from the celebration they loved so Bonnie made it her mission to one day get all dressed up and celebrate properly with their kids and photograph it right. In comes me! Yay!

Bonnie reached out many months ago and we discussed her vision and as the plans gradually came to fruition it was no surprise that since these two have always been sailing enthusiasts they landed on choosing a sailboat off the coast of Ogunquit, Maine to celebrate their second anniversary in style!

They wanted to go through the fun motions of a wedding day so their three children in attendance wore wedding attire with daughter Josie helping Bonnie get into her gorgeous gown in the cabin below so she could have a first look with the man of her dreams.

The sun shined beautifully up in Perkins Cove, Ogunquit…but the surf was just not playing nice. Outside the cove there were white caps and waves crashing onto the rocks jutting out into the sea so Jack, the captain of the ever awesome Silver Linings sailboat, gave warning that it definitely wouldn’t be sailing weather, but if we really wanted to, we could use the motor and go out past the safe harbor of the cove for some pictures.

Bonnie, Mark + Co were all up for it and I thought, sure why not! HOO DOGGY THOSE WAVES WERE INTENSE! It was hard to get many photos while we were soaring straight up to the skies or skiing down a giant wave towards the surface of the water but we did manage to get a few! The family all laughed through it and even though Bonnie was in super high heels (this girl has major courage, let me tell you!) she still was maneuvering around the boat with a constant grin and not a single complaint.

Since I wanted to be sure to get more pictures of the two of them, we headed back into the cove just as the sun was beginning to set for some photos near the docks in the most gorgeous of light. We had a great time together and I have to say that Bonnie’s sweet southern accent just made my heart soar – I am SUCH a sucker for a soft southern drawl! They are a lovely family who didn’t care that the weather wasn’t 100% perfect, what mattered was the memories we were going to be able to seal in the history books. I love them for that with all my heart!

We won’t get into what I did to get this shot – let’s just say it was prooooobably not the best idea in the world. It looks safe and pretty though!

This is Bonnie advising Mark to aim the champagne cork away from her – he didn’t think there was any reason for concern….

OH BUT THERE WAS! This is part of my proof that there were some rough seas out there! hahaha!


She is a stunner, that sweet (and super petite!) Bonnie.
