Another day being a The Preserve at Chocorua wedding photographer and on the toastiest weekend of the year I photographed Kirsten + Seth’s bunny rabbit and dinosaur filled wedding! Wait, re-read that first sentence again. Yes, yes indeed there was some (a lot) of rabbit and dinosaur inspired antics at their wedding :)
When the three of us were doing our final call before the wedding day, Seth stole away from his fiance to whisper to me that before Kirsten got into her wedding gown, he was going to surprise her with a bunny in a basket!
Kirsten is a huge animal lover (like me!) and Seth knew that she would absolutely love to spend some time with a furry friend before her wedding day – and since Kirsten used to have rabbits when she was little and she’s made friends with all of the local rabbits around their home (and named them), he knew that having a bun to visit with was going to be magic. Seth said she lights up when she sees an animal – girl, I know that feeling!
When his search for a bunny up in the White Mountains was coming up empty, Seth reached out to Mary at The Preserve (aka: the hostess with the mostess) who knew a local woman who rescues animals and had just the sweet bunny she could bring by.
And the bun was the sweetest! But so were Kirsten, her mom, her bridesmaids and flower girl!
Once the bunny arrived, Kirsten and the girls gently cuddled with her, laid on the floor while the little bun hopped around, fed her fresh vegetables, and softly talked to her and enjoyed the time with her new animal friend. It made me so happy to see people loving animals and treating them gently like she and the rest of the girls did.
And even though their day was during the heat wave that washed over the east coast bringing heat and humidity to record levels, never once did I hear the couple – or anyone for that matter! – talk about how it was putting a damper on the day. Their wedding was fun filled with prizes for the weekend-long scavenger hunt, laughter filled vows, theatrical dances at the reception, and my favorite thing that Kirsten came up with which was to have all the guests at the ceremony stand and form a circle while the couple went around to each and every one of them giving them all a quick hug and a thank you for joining them. It was a great way to make sure to greet everyone and get one last send-off from their loved ones before they returned back to the front to exchange rings and seal the deal with a kiss!
It was a day full of love and fun which perfectly describes the two of them; their passion for finding ways to always have a smile on their face was only surpassed by the love they have for one another. Kirsten and Seth, thank you for having us along on your wedding day adventure, I wish you two all the best!!
Oh! One other note, the super sweet bunny had a big enclosure and lots of air conditioning in the quiet bridal suite to hang out in while she was there. The little cutie was very well taken care of, I promise!
Onto the photos!
A basket full of bunny related items…and what’s coming in the door next? A REAL LIVE BUN
Kirsten’s idea to have the guests form a circle during the ceremony where the two of them went around and hugged each guest was brilliant
