Fells Reservation Engagement Session in Stoneham Massachusetts: Lori + Brian

It takes a special type of adventurer to seek out the snowy winter weather as the backdrop for an engagement session – and Lori + Brian were just the pair for the job!

Brian popped the question just days before we first spoke and while they are deep in the throws of getting their 2020 wedding plans all secured, one thing they knew for sure was they wanted the chance to get some photographs while snow was still blanketing the ground. So as the days crept closer and closer to that glorious upcoming Spring season, we set a date on the calendar and crossed our fingers hoping for one last coating of powder.

And like magic, the Sunday before our session we got what is most likely our last big snowstorm of the season which set up the backdrop for their session perfectly. It was chilly outside with some wild gusts of wind, but they found a great pocket of woods in the Fells Reservation in Stoneham Massachusetts that looked stunning for their pictures and also gave us the much-needed protection from the cold gusts with the tall trees buffering us from those cold blasts of air.

They were nervous but so completely in love and from the first few seconds of meeting them, I knew not only were we going to hit it off great, but they were going to be incredible in front of the camera – and I was right!

They were down for trekking through the snow drifts to get to those beautiful pockets where the setting sun was peeking through the boughs, and they serenaded me with some rocking songs (I promised Brian I wouldn’t reveal the first songs that came to his mind – but there was some amazing pop cheese in that list!) and they danced around on the trails to keep warm.

And when we realized we were deep in the woods as the sun was quickly making its descent, we hurriedly walked back towards the spot where the land opened up and the bare snow-lined trees let just enough light through to capture Lori’s gorgeous hair while Brian swung her around in his arms before officially calling it a wrap on their winter engagement session!

The two of them are so much fun (and they come by way of being friends with the amazing Domenique + Chris whose wedding at The Preserve in Chocorua I photographed last year so I KNEW we’d get along great!) and I loved being able to photograph them so close to when Brian asked her to be his forever because the joy and excitement was so awesomely palpable!
