Greene Maine Wedding Photographer : Intimate Farm Elopement for Mariel + Chris

Mariel and Chris were married in the backyard of his grandparent’s farmhouse in Maine. It’s a place that’s always brought warmth and good memories to him and it’s a place that Mariel fell in love with the first time she visited. The stained glass windows, the family photos on the walls, the love notes hanging above the desk – it was the perfect place for these two to take those first exciting steps into being husband and wife.

Spring is always a surprise up in Maine – you just never know what you’re going to get! And this year was certainly one that was far different than any I’d experienced since coming to the area. The cold weather took up residence for far too long after winter ended and then the rain just never seemed to let up – but on the day these two decided to join together forever, the weather was just perfect.

While she sat on the porch getting her makeup done by her friend, he entertained the small group of family and friends who’d come to witness their celebration. A long table was set up for everyone to gather around for lunch before they took the few quick steps to the backyard to watch the couple say their vows.

The mood was one of calm and one of love and even though the timing of events fell a little behind – as they almost always do! – everyone enjoyed the laidback atmosphere and good conversation around the table in the living room.

With a beautiful song performed by Mariel’s friend as she and her brother entered the ceremony (and a happy pup that was excited to be pet by everyone), they said their vows, Chris shed a couple of tears, and they hugged family in celebration before I stole them away for some photos along the Maine dirt road.
