Loon Mountain Resort New Hampshire Wedding Photographer : Kellie + Jason

Dear Kellie, Jason + Loon Mountain – you are beautiful! And to think we almost didn’t get to have the wedding in it’s full glory.

Yup, you guessed it, the weather was touch and go the week leading up to their wedding, I kept hoping it would hold out so they could have their ceremony at the mountain top summit…but then the skies opened up about an hour before the ceremony was due to start which nearly splintered apart everyone’s heart that day.

Kellie + Jason have been dreaming about their intimate wedding in the wilderness of New Hampshire for a while. They wanted the celebration to be with just their families, they wanted to have breakfast for dinner (love it), and they wanted to profess their love for one another while surrounded by the thin mountain air that overlooks the deep tree lined valley. The three of us talked about it for a while and the plans were the making for a most amazing day!

But that rain! It was actually the potential of lightning where the resort began to worry about the dangers of having people at the summit. Kellie was still not in her dress when the news hit and was understandably heartbroken. So when Jason heard the news, he rushed to her side and as a true testament to the strength of their love for one another, they talked, hugged, shed a couple of tears, and then took a deep breath and pushed forward knowing that the marriage was what was most important.

And then…. AMAZING NEWS!! After he left, Jason somehow worked his magic and a mountaintop wedding was ON! Kellie got the news just as she was finishing putting on her shoes and immediately went New Jersey on us (you can take a girl out of New Jersey, but not the New Jersey out of the girl) and this petite, Grace Kelly look-a-like girl in the most gorgeous of classic dresses swore and practically bounced around the room in glee! We hustled into a first look now that they were dressed and then up the mountain we went.

(ps: I survived that ride up the mountain even though I am a wee bit scared of heights and was not looking forward to being zipped up a mountain in a glass gondola hanging from a little tight rope. I managed to not freak out…too much ;)

The wedding was GORGEOUS, the views were GORGEOUS, and the couple at the center of it all were GORGEOUS. It was fitting that a couple who got engaged in a place that doesn’t exist (which is a story I love so very much, feel free to ask me about it some time) got to get married in a place that wasn’t supposed to be reachable. They are quite known for not backing down in the face of adversity and making the best damn lemonade out of whatever lemons come their way.

And the pictures we got to take up on that summit? Hoooo doggy, just you wait and see.
