“Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.” William Makepeace Thackeray
Quite a few years ago now, I photographed Gabrielle + Sarah as they stood in front of the ocean with a distant thunderstorm passing through and said their vows to one another. Since that time, life has moved and shifted for all of us and for them it meant selling their first home together, buying a new one that would fit their hopefully growing family, job changes, thriving small businesses…and then this past summer I got THE email: Gabrielle was pregnant and due in just a few short weeks!
I was so excited to hear the news! I knew they were hoping to have a child for a couple years now so to hear that Gabrielle was carrying a sweet little baby boy was music to my ears!
These two women are such incredible people who I count myself as lucky to have met and I knew with their deeply loving demeanor that they would make great parents to a little one.
When the day came for me to join them at their house for pictures of their family, I was so excited to see them and wasn’t at all surprised to see the way they seamlessly fell into the role of being mothers. And baby Mateo? SO DANG CUTE!!
He was so smiley, so full of joy, and so down for a few different outfits for the session – Sarah + Gabrielle said at the start of our time together that he actually loved to be changed and they weren’t lying! We spent time playing in his room, showering him with kisses on the bed and enjoying a warm end of summer day out on the front porch all while their two pups watched us carefully and gave Mateo plenty of kisses too.
I’m so excited for this new path you are walking, Gabrielle + Sarah, keep in touch and keep me posted on this sweet sweet boy!
