Christina + Sam met and fell in love while living in India and their love is one full of adventurous trips around the globe with each one bringing them closer together as they learned about far away places side by side. They wanted an intimate wedding where the people they care deeply about who would be traveling from all over could gather together in some beautiful corner of New England and welcome in their first moments of husband and wife. It’s hard to visit Crane Estate and not fall in love with it’s dreamy landscapes and sun drenched woods – so it’s no wonder why they chose it to be the place they would marry one another.
I love photographing weddings at The Barn at Crane Estate because there’s an abundance of gorgeous spots and views that go on forever – and yet it sits just a short way away from the busy life of Boston. Christina + Sam’s day with deep hued flowers and jewel toned accents alongside their stunning wedding attire were a perfect fit for this spot and when just the two of them stood in front of family and friends – which I loved because the focus was solely on the vows they said to one another – it was absolutely stunning.
Christina’s brother led the ceremony perfectly and once it was sealed with a kiss, they ran off with us to climb the grassy hills and dance with one another in the estate’s streets. Christina purposely came prepared with comfortable shoes so we could climb around – and man, I’m glad she was. We were able to capture so much of their quiet and gentle love all with beautiful backdrops to frame them with.
And their families! Such great people! We laughed so much with each of them and Christina’s family even played along with me when I oh-so-meticulously guided them all into a silhouetted shot before the celebration kicked into high gear. I loved it!
After the 70’s disco throwback dance Christina did with her father (which was definitely one of my favorite father daughter dances ever because it was so THEM!), the guests responded immediately with a great party on the dance floor from the moment it opened up. Oscar and I snuck the two of them outside for a hazy sunset photo and then after some more dancing – including Christina’s 90+ year old grandfather who busted out the dance moves to Tupac (YES, you read that right and YES, it was as awesome as you imagine!) – Oscar and I wished them all a good night and said to each other, “now THAT was a wedding!”
What a beautifully intimate celebration that I’m so happy we got to photograph. Thank you to Christina, Sam, and both of your families for inviting us along, I wish you all many happy years!
Best part about the behind the scenes of taking this shot? Christina’s parents being the first to break into fits of laughter. SO GOOD.
