Woah, 2011 was insanely awesome at times and then at other times it was just insane.
In the business section of my life, it has been incredible to say the least. I made the commitment to SVP at the start of the year and to see how much I have grown and fallen back into the groove of shooting as a career again amazes me endlessly. I missed having my camera be my sidekick and let me tell you, there’s no splitting us up again mmmmkay?!
Even my own health won’t get in the way – it sorta tried, but I won thankyouverymuch. I plan to post more on this at another time since I want to give encouragement to anyone else who fights this same fight but for now I will keep this brief. Truly I have very few (if any?) regrets in my life and although health concerns aren’t fun, they really taught me a lot about life in general. So in a way, I am thankful for being given the reason to stop and look at what I have. Ok, this is all sounding overly dramatic so I will leave it with the fact that yes, I am doing fine so fret not!
So kitties got real sick early in the year and needed lots of doctor visits, long ER stays, and surgery – then I followed suit (minus the ER and surgery) but then something amazing happened – clarity.
Life just started to fall into place and things happened that one after the other, turned my path around and gave me great insight as to what I want to do with my life and what direction I want to head in.
I learned from the mistake of saying YES! to anything and everything photo related and although I was sorta/kinda taken advantage of in a couple of ways, it just taught me what not to do early on. And I am so glad that it happened at a point where it was easy to make business shifts which force me to protect myself and SVP as a whole.
And with my clarity, I have focused heavily on figuring out what I want out of my business and the people I want to attract (and detract) and it has been working fabulously. My brides for 2012 are amazing and just what I would hope for (not that this year’s weren’t, I’m just saying that I am excited for 2012’s as well!).
And then to top it all off, Oscar asked me to marry him! YAAAAY! He has been a lighthouse in the storm for me and a support like you wouldn’t believe and I am SO excited to get married in 2012 to him! And it’s an even number year – yessss! But more on that later because he is certainly one of the main items on my next post coming up….
2011 in Review – my favorite things! ….. (coming up next week!)
And since we left it talking about Oscar – let’s all marvel and him and his brother Omar this fall in their Lucha masks. See? I told you I was lucky to have him!
