York Hospital’s Breast Cancer “In the Pink Fashion Fling” – Ogunquit, Maine

When the women over at my local bridal salon, Madeleine’s Daughter, invited me to shoot photos for the “In the Pink Fashion Fling” I have to admit that I hadn’t heard of it before. Based off of what they told me and my Internet search, I found that it’s an event featuring food from local restaurants, an auction on great prizes and a fashion show featuring clothing from local shops (like Madeleine’s Daughter!) where the proceeds go to York Hospital’s Breast Cancer Living Well program. This fundraiser is so wonderfully different because the money goes right to the wellness program which provides support for the diagnosed, those undergoing treatment or those recovering from breast cancer. How awesome that they do this and how could I pass up an opportunity to donate my time and get some great photos?!

So off I went to the Ogunquit Playhouse and I have to say that the night was more than I could have imagined. Just the feeling in the air and the camaraderie of all of the local restaurants, hair stylists, clothing stores and more blew me away. I had so much fun taking pictures of the girls (and a couple guys) backstage as they got ready to head out onto the catwalk and I even got to shoot and talk to the night’s emcee, Randy Price an adored newscaster in the area as well as a super nice man.

The event was amazing, the crowd had so much fun watching the show and bidding on prizes, and the night went off without a hitch. I am honored to have been in the presence of such wonderful people and to support a great event; if you are in the area next year, you should come on down! Thank you for having me, York Hospital!
