Plum Island Newburyport Engagement Shoot : Sage + Colin

When Sage emailed me about her wedding I freaked out because they’re getting married on Peak’s Island in Maine which is a place I’ve been wanting to work AND because of her name! Sage – I love it! I was irresistibly attracted to these two from the moment they inquired and after talking on the phone and learning more, I was so ready to get this date marked on my calendar for 2017.

Sage insisted that she feels she doesn’t photograph well and to help calm the nerves of having a camera pointed her way for an extended period of time, she decided an engagement session would help. So as the fall season was winding down with just a couple warm evenings left, we put a date on the calendar for pictures.

They wanted somewhere outdoors and somewhere that wouldn’t be packed with people so when she mentioned Newburyport, MA I knew exactly the place we could head: Plum Island. Although in the summers I’m sure it is bustling with people, upon our arrival we were met with one other car in the beach parking lot and no one in sight on the beach or in the grassy hills surrounding.

But first let’s address the elephant in the room….SAGE IS SO EASY TO PHOTOGRAPH!! And so is Colin, but he claims he was born for this moment so I wasn’t worried about him at all hahaha! But truthfully, they both were so great! Colin was perfect at holding tight to his girl and showering her with love and kisses – and a pro at brushing back those long locks of his.

And Sage, well Sage is a photographer’s dream. I could’ve photographed her for days and not have gotten bored with each smile and each flicker in her eyes. I think as you look through these photos, you’ll agree that these two made my job incredibly easy and also made me even more excited to meet up with them again in Maine for pictures of the moment they say I do.

Sage, Colin + Scout, I hope this eased any nerves you had – you’re an awesome family and I kinda want to do it all over again already…winter shoot at the beach, guys?!
