Rye, New Hampshire Adventure Session with Rachel + Bret

She has an air of calm about her. She exudes patience and has this built in ability to look at the world and always recognize the beauty and the good.

She’s protective, she’s loving, she’s stoic, she’s everything a child asks for in a mother – and soon, a child will be welcomed into this world and through any bits of chaos, that child will know that without a doubt, they are loved.

He’s a perfect mirror of her calm, he’s warm, and careful with those he loves. He doesn’t shy away from showing his deep affection for her, and the look on his face as she holds lovingly onto their growing child warms my heart.

He will soon be a father, a job he’s easily stepping into, a job thats perfectly fitting for him.

I met them at their engagement shoot last year where they talked of having a family together, and then our relationship deepened as I joined them on their oceanside wedding last summer at the Seacoast Science Center and it was with great pleasure that on their one year anniversary, they invited me along for an adventure session to photograph them one last time before the two became three.

We walked some of the very same steps we took on their wedding day and I photographed how much they’ve changed – yet at the same time, nothing had changed at all. The love and the joy I have come to know from them was there with us at every click of my camera.

This year I have found myself settling into this amazing appreciation of women as I’ve stood alongside a great many of them in these 8 or so months in some of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and each one of them has exhibited this undeniable strength and beauty that radiates from deep within. It was my great pleasure to once again see Rachel because she is no different. Her strength is beautiful and with Bret by her side, these two will be raising a most wonderful child.

I send so much love to you three and I can’t wait to photograph you again as your lives keep moving forward. Happy anniversary, and happy soon-to-be parenthood!
