Sage + Colin, those two names even sound good together, right? When I photographed these two by the water on Plum Island, I couldn’t get over how much of a dynamic couple they are and how they’re a perfect balance to one another’s personality. And just as I expected, when their Peaks Island Maine wedding arrived, their incredible dynamic was in full force once again!
Colin is the life of the party, always where the action is, never one to shy away from attention, and ready at a moment’s notice to celebrate all that’s wonderful and exciting about life. He’s magnetic, charming, and maaaaaaybe a dash of trouble…in the best way!
And with Sage it’s no surprise at all that her name is synonymous with so many wonderful properties like healing, cleansing, and rendering anew – these are all things I would tie to her in a heartbeat. She’s kind, warm, always ready to protect or care for others, and her smile will warm you all the way down to your toes. She’s a beautiful presence to be in – both inside and out – and the calming warmth she naturally emanates made me want to squeeze her all day long.
While the girls (and guy!) got ready up in the packed salon at the Inn on Peaks Island Maine – the guys took over the hotel room with a view of the water to toast to the day and get the party started. The sun streamed in bright over their touching ceremony in the garden, and then it was time to steal the couple away for my favorite moments of each wedding – photos of just the newlyweds.
We headed down to the water nearby and after making friends with the local geese (Colin must be a goose whisperer. The three of us took off when they ran over to us but Colin just stopped and looked at them and the geese were like, “Oh…hey…nvm” and then immediately relaxed after that) the two of them danced down by the water, snuggled in close under the docks, and ventured out over the water. We made a plan to come back out when the sun was setting because the views of the light heading down over the city of Portland were sure to be magic.
And Sage’s dress! I loved it!! It had the softest undertone of blush pink that made it so unique and I loved how the tulle danced around her when she moved. She didn’t hesitate to hike through the brush to get down to the water and had no concerns about skimming the base of it across the sand while I photographed the two of them – love it!
Colin looked pretty dapper too – his suit was a perfect style for him. He’s not the kind to get something expected for an event and I loved that it was just one other place his personality got to shine on their wedding day.
Shortly after we returned back to the reception and the guests were full from dinner, the crowd filled the dance floor and were ready to party the rest of the night in celebration of these two wonderful people.
Sage + Colin, I’m so honored I got to be a part of your day and photograph all of the fun, I hope this isn’t the last time we get to hang out! I wish you guys all the best!
