Wolf Cove Inn Maine Elopement Photographer: Shannon + Zack

There was this one time when I sent out a questionnaire to a newly booked couple and the name the bride put into the spot for “the name you prefer to be called” was: Shannon (princess of unicorns….mother of yeti) – guess what I knew right away? THAT THIS WAS A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!

Actually, our fates may have been sealed slightly before that when I let her know I was available for her wedding day and she said, “Glory be the day!!!! That’s great news!! Looking forward” – and then her email abruptly ended. A couple seconds later she messaged again saying that in her excitement she hit send too soon – hahahaha! Yup, this was going to be a day I couldn’t miss!

When I finally got to meet her, Shannon was exactly as I imagined she’d be and more. She was so happy to be marrying Zack in the way she imagined and was also looking forward to toasting to the wedding right after with cheese and champagne! She, her sister, and her mom danced around their cozy cabin at the Inn while occasionally tearing up a couple times – especially when Shannon stepped out of the room dressed to the nines in her perfect lace wedding dress. She’s smart, she’s funny, and she’s beautiful – what a lucky guy Zack is!

Their intimate wedding was at the Wolf Cove Inn and the celebrated amongst their immediate family, a couple of close friends and their beautiful puppy, Yukon. Yukon!! Of course he’s just as cool has his parents with the super sweet way that he greeted me and nuzzled my face, and his tongue that’s too long for his mouth. Although, I should add that Shannon + Zack didn’t nuzzle me and I assume their tongues were normal length…but you get the point.

When Zack arrived, I brought him out to the dock overlooking the calm waters of the lake and from a distance I photographed them as they hugged each other in a brief private moment before they walked across the grass to a spot amongst the trees where they said, “I do.”

After the ceremony I overheard someone complimenting the Inn’s roof saying how nice it was. I remember looking at it expecting to see some modern marvel, but was confused when I saw it was just a black roof. Although it was nice, I was surprised it drew in this family member enough to talk about it. I went about my photography business with Shannon and Zack and since the Wolf Cove Inn has so many beautiful locations for photos right nearby, I quickly got wrapped up in the couple and the photos.

The three of us laughed and poked fun at Zack’s attempts to woo Shannon with his gestures (she confused said gestures for him attempting to be a kitty, ahhhh romance!) and before I knew it, it was time for me to head out for the evening so the family could go to dinner. But before I did, I had one quick photo I wanted to take of the two of them overlooking the water. And wouldn’t you know that while I dialed in my camera settings, Shannon looks over at the Inn and says, “Wow, that roof is nice!”

WHAT THE CRAP!?!? I asked her if her family were roofers (they aren’t) or if they have a thing for architecture (they don’t) because I couldn’t understand this adoration for a roof! She had no real explanation as to why they were all individually admiring this roof except to say, “It’s just really nice!” Needless to say, that got us all laughing even harder and it’s now become a little bit of a running joke among us :D

I loved being a part of your day, Shannon + Zack, and I look forward to the many adventures of the Princess of Unicorns, her man, and her yeti!!

Shannon’s ring was a surprise that she didn’t get to see until Zack put it on her finger so everyone wanted a peek after it was official!
