Perkin’s Cove Maine Elopement Photographer : Samantha + Dominick

Elope in Maine….There aren’t too many things I find dreamier than taking an October morning sailboat ride off the coast of Southern Maine, dropping anchor in a quiet cove, and getting married to your love at sea by the captain of a boat. There’s no way I’m alone in those feelings, right? Even though this sounds too good to be true, it was exactly the day that Samantha + Dominick carried out on an early Sunday morning and I’m the lucky girl who got to photograph it. When she reached out after finding me on Instagram, I couldn’t respond fast enough that yes, I do have that morning wide open and please oh please let me join you in this amazing adventure! I’m in love with this wild job of mine.

Small weddings and elopements make me the happiest girl in the world, I love everything about them and the couples at the center of them tend to be people I completely and utterly get – and these two lovelies are no exception to that rule! We met up just shy of two weeks before their day and I was instantly drawn in by their demeanor, their very apparent love for one another, and their personalities that had me smiling non-stop while we laughed and talked about the easy going plan for the morning. And Samantha’s freckles?? Ahhhh, I love love love a girl with freckles! With her gentle personality and beautiful features mixed in with those freckles, I was even more inclined to count down the days until I could photograph their love.

Dominick was the one who found the Silver Linings sailboat and worked out the plan for the morning ride out to sea and afterwards it was an easy decision to celebrate with a vegan cake (yay for more animal lovers!) and their most favorite thing in the world to eat: breakfast. So a reservation to MC’s for their jazz brunch was made and before you know it, this elopement was ready to go.

The day went perfectly and the two of them were a dream in front of my camera. Dominick’s energy and excitement were so fun to be a part of while we waited for Samantha to arrive. And Samantha’s nerves and tears were quickly dashed as soon as she reached Dominick waiting for her at the end of the dock; upon seeing him, she instantly was soothed and returned to being the girl with a smile that stops hearts.

Our ride out in the Atlantic was incredible and after Captain Jack made it official, they raised the sails and took us all for a wild ride where fearless Dominick was reveling in the moments where the boat was nearly on it’s side as we raced along the waves. Their happiness was contagious and since I ironically took a ride in this boat just a month earlier, my confidence was apparently booming because everyone thought I was maneuvering the boat like a pro – what can I say, I’m a natural sailer ;)

I love that I seem to get the coolest people in the world who come to me wanting to marry in the most epic of ways, and I’m looking forward to spending some lazy weekend mornings with these two getting breakfast and high fiving at the most amazing way they said I Do. What a way to elope in Maine.
