My cellphone buzzed at me from allll the way in the other room and I was too pooped from a long day at work to get motivated and actually remove myself from the couch to check who it was. After an hour or so passed, I finally got up to check my messages and when I read the words, I just about screeched: my best friend and her husband had just welcomed their first child to the world!!
Kenzie + Phill wanted to welcome their daughter by themselves and minus the craziness that can sometimes happen when family, friends and co-workers are hanging around to stir up the anxiety levels. These two also just up and got married one night by themselves too, so this was not a surprise to those of us close to them that they wanted this to be a quiet little affair. But let me tell you folks, it was an exercise in self control to not cry/rush to the hospital/text them 100 times/post on Facebook/generally freak out when I got the news. But I was near the top of the phone list to hear the exciting news and I was not going to spill these beans! :)
So the next morning you can only imagine my excitement to head over to the hospital (which is seriously about 2 minutes from my house – I HAVE SELF CONTROL!! YAY!) and to fall in love instantly with my best friend’s little doodle-bug. Kenzie was happy, healthy, looking AMAZING, calm and excited for the day and Phill couldn’t stop himself from smiling at his superhero wife and new sidekick.
Below are a few pictures from their first day at the hospital and then following those are photos from their house when I stopped over as they gave Stella her first ever bath.
So wonderful to meet you, little Stella, I know we’re going to be the best of friends.
